2020 Mazda 3 Release Date, Specs, Price – This is the new Mazda 3, and this is the kind of car you probably gonna be considering. If you’re also looking at a Volkswagen Golf, a Ford Focus, Kia Cee’d maybe. Even something like an Audi a3 or a Mercedes A-Class.
2020 Mazda 3 Changes
Now let’s begin this discussion by speaking about the 2020 Mazda 3 design. I do actually really like the looking of this car. So the back end is elegant. And you can get higher models with LED taillights. There’s no fakery here not in terms of exhaust pipes also nor vents on the car.
Now down the side, this is the only area that bothers me about the car. There’s just a little bit too much metal there. Which makes the car look under wheeled. As you move at the range, you do have larger wheels. And you get rid of privacy glass. But by and large, all Mazda 3 look pretty much identical, regardless of which version you go for (SE-L, SE-L Lux, Sport Lux, GT Sport and GT Sport Tech). Which is a good idea because it suggests you have to pay extra to make it look nice.
What’s like on the inside though, I think this car has a beautiful cabin design. It’s quite interesting the shape of the dash feels sporty. I love the way that you’re separated from your passenger. Not because you’re gonna hate your passenger, it’s because it makes a car feel more sporty. And there are interesting details on the door as well, I do really like it.
Finally, I want to talk about the infotainment screen. The way it’s kind of on the top of the dash which is a good position. But it’s a bit weird, the shape they’re chosen for is just kind of random. The 2020 Mazda 3 range kicks off with the SEL, and it gets a widescreen infotainment system with apple car play and android auto.
The infotainment system may look like a touchscreen, but you can’t actually operate it that way. Instead, you operate basic stuff with voice commands or to control everything uses the click wheel controller and shortcut buttons between front seats. Which to be honest is easy to do while you’re driving them.
The sat-nav system is relatively decent, but putting in a postcode is simple. And the system can calculate routes quickly. Plus key and add a waypoint along your journey in a few button presses. Really the only downside is that the traffic alerts aren’t that great. But this doesn’t really matter because you can use apple car play or android auto from Google Maps always through your phone.
And then you can use apps directly like Spotify, rather than stream your music via Bluetooth. And generally the stereo is okay, but the upgraded Bose System of this car is noticeably better. Now moving on to this central screen. It’s actually only the middle dial which is digital. And you can’t really do that much with it. It just shows a speedo, or you can flick through for some driving information.
2020 Mazda 3 Engine
The Mazda 3 has something called G vectoring control plus. So as you’re driving along the car is automatically making very minor adjustments to the throttle inputs and the brakes. The functions are to help maximise grip by changing the cars balance, a bit like a racing driver does to improve their lap times.
As well as a standard SKYACTIVE-G petrol engine you’ll be able to get another one called SKYACTIVE-X. which has a special supercharged. Which allows it to run with the efficiency of diesel but the smoothness petrol. So the best of both ways.
The car also uses a modern hybrid system. So as you’re breaking it recoup that lost energy, stored in a battery then use it to power things like the electrics and the starter motor. Ok, it’s time to take this new Mazda 3 for a test drive and let’s start it in town.
During the test, one thing I really like about the car is the controls. So the gear shifter is lovely, this manual gearbox is glorious. It’s very sporty, it’s very slick, it enjoys to use. So all the pedals really nicely weighted. And the brakes they’re not grabby, but they’re strong. it’s all good.
What’s not so good though, is that the quarters are quite a firm suspension. So it jolts you a little bit more of a bump than a Volkswagen Golf or Ford Focus did. Also, the car doesn’t have quite such a tight turning circle as either of those. So you’re more like to get caught out and mini-roundabouts if you need to do a U-Turn.
It’s a massive problem, one thing that is more of an issue though is rearward visibility. And that can be a problem when you’re putting out certain junctions or trying to park.
2020 Mazda 3 Price and Release Date
Now the Mazda 3 starts from about 20,595 pounds. So then, what’s my final verdict on the 2020 Mazda 3. Should you avoid it, think it, shortlist it or just go right ahead and get it. Well yeah, if you can afford it, why would you not go directly and buy it. I’ll leave it up to you guys. But I reckon you should shortlist the Mazda 3. It’s not the most practical hatchback. But it’s a stylish and sporty thing to drive, I like it.
