2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Price, Engine, Release Date – An electric Mustang?, a Mustang SUV, are you kidding us, Ford? How could you do this to all of us loyal Mustang fans out there? Should we all take up our pitchforks and go storm Dearborn outraged at this new Mustang. Well, possibly not so serious, let me explain. For a few cycles now, we’ve been hearing whispers of a four-door Mustang. And a lot of us in the Mustang community kind of brushed it off as more fake news. But over the last few months, we’ve come to realize that these rumors were true.
Ford initially wasn’t calling this electric SUV a Mustang. They’d been referring to it as a Mustang-inspired SUV. However, now that some leaked but still official information is out from Ford. We do know that this car is, in fact, branded as a Mustang. So before we break down whether or not you should accept this as a Mustang. Let’s go over some of the interesting stats about the car.
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Design
Now obviously the first and most striking thing about the car is its appearance. To be honest, I initially thought an SUV proportioned car wearing Mustang styling cues would look horrible. But seeing the actual design of the car, I have to admit I think it looks sharp. It’s very sporty and aggressive looking, and it carries over a lot of styling aspects you’d expect for a Mustang. Even though this is an SUV, it’s instantly recognizable as a Mustang.
And it still would be even if there wasn’t a big pony emblem on the grill. With sporty SUVs taken over the marketplace, I think Ford did a great job designing their own. Now, of course, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E moves forward into the future and is all-electric.
Multiple different models will be offered to start at a base price of around 43 grand. That’s really not so bad for an electric SUV when you think about it. Especially when you consider you’ll be able to knock off $7,500 off the price with the federal tax credit. Meaning you’ll be looking at a base price somewhere starting around 36,000. That puts you right in line with or even maybe slightly cheaper than a Tesla Model 3. and speaking of which there’s going to be some more tests the comparisons coming. So be sure to hold around for the full news.
But as I was saying, the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is going to come in a variety of different models. The select bass trim, the California RT 1, the premium, and of course, the GT. There is also a first version launch model, but this largely is going to be involving some badging and styling changes. So I’m continuing to move that out of the discussion.
Before we talk briefly about if this was a good move for a Ford. And how this car stacks up to Tesla. Let me know whatever you think of the Mach-E so far. In terms of styling, performance, and price. So what do I think of the car? Well, I actually like it a lot. And I think it was a smart idea for Ford. Initially, I hated the idea of an electric SUV Mustang. But the market is overwhelmingly moving towards electric vehicles and SUVs.
So now’s the part where you’re probably thinking. Well yeah, that’s great, but why did Ford have to tarnish the Mustang name with this. Couldn’t they have made another electric model wearing a different nameplate? And a design that wasn’t Mustang-inspired. Well yeah, of course, they could have. But Mustang is Ford’s sexiest and most iconic nameplate. And that’s important because many of the other electric cars out there like Tesla have their own cult following.
So it was important that when Ford entered the market, they did it with something that already had a loyal fan base. This would ensure that they would develop a cult following of their own. There are so many people out there who will only drive a Mustang. Buying Mustangs over and over again. But with the market moving more and more towards electric vehicles and SUVs. It was only a matter of time before people had to move away from buying Mustangs.
And in my opinion, the Ford Mustang Mach-E is a much sexier car than anything Tesla has to offer. I personally have been attracted to the convenience and technological factors associated with having an electric vehicle. And now that this Mach-E is coming out, I am even more interested in getting an electric car for myself.
It would make a great family car, at least that’s what I had to tell myself. And I’m probably going to tell my wife. But after getting over the initial shock, I think Mustang enthusiasts are going to accept this model as part of the Mustang lineup. And it’s going to draw a huge fan base of their own.
This is going to be suitable for Ford and the Mustang coupe overall. The more Mustang SUVs they sell, the more money Ford will have to put into the Mustang program and keep building us awesome Mustang coops. So let me know your thoughts on the Mustang Mach-E and be sure to check back for more official information.
