2021 Genesis GV80 Price, Interior, Towing Capacity – Hey, guys, I’m at Chicago Auto Show. And here is the brand-new 2021 Genesis SUV, the GV80. Here’s a first look. Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is off to a slow start. Even though the G70, G18, G90 are outstanding car sales have been lacking compared to its luxury peers.
The main reason while sales are lacking because Genesis currently has no SUVs in the lineup. Which is what most manufacturers are selling these days. That problem will soon be resolved with a brand new GV80. A midsize luxury SUV is competing with the likes of the BMW X5, Audi Q7, and the Acura MDX.
Now the GV80 platform is a rear-wheel-drive, similar to the 2021 Genesis GV80 sedan. But not shared with the palisade. The GV80 will be available with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive that comes with a limited-slip differential. Now looking at the outside, it is striking.
The front has a gigantic diamond mesh grille. And take a look at these stacked horizontal headlights with daytime running lights. It also looks absolutely stunning. On the side, you can get available 22-inch wheels that you see here as optional wheels. Now the backside is chiseled and squared. And you do see LED taillights that are stacked just like the headlights. On the bottom, you see some nice large chrome exhaust tips.
Now there will be two powertrains powering a GV80. A base 2.5 liter 4 cylinder turbo. Best guess it will be similar to the one in the Kia Optima GT, which pushes around 286 horsepower. The next powertrain will be a brand new 3.5 liter V6 turbo that could be pushing 400 plus horsepower.
Now in the inside of 2021 Genesis GV80 is covered with leather. And the seats have this nice diamond pattern stitching. Second-row customers get two a pair of USB ports, climate controls, and both heated and ventilated seats.
Upfront, the dash has a simplistic look without too much clutter. And you see vents spread from one side to the other. You see a massive 14.5-inch screen on top that’s gonna be your infotainment screen. And below that, you have your climate controls. On the center console, you see some volume buttons on top. And also a click wheel controller that is used for the infotainment screen. And below that, you have another dial that is the gear selector.
Now the steering wheel has an old-school vibe being that it’s two spokes. And then, of course, on the side, you see some buttons for volume scrolling phone. And buttons to control the info screen in the gauge cluster. Now looking in the trunk, the space behind the third row looks a bit tight. Especially compared to some of the others in this space.
There is some storage underneath the cover. The GV80 will have a host of Technology and luxury features, including the next generation of highway driving Assist. Which can actually learn and emulate drivers driving style? It can also perform autonomous lane changes too.
The navigation will also overlay driving directions on top of a real live Street image provided by a front-facing camera. Something that Mercedes currently does. You also get massaging seats, at the noise cancellation, 21 speaker sound system, and a whole lot more.
So how much does a 2021 Genesis GV80 cost, and when will it hit the dealerships? While official prices have not been announced. But the base GV80 will likely start to low $50.000 and move up from there. The 2021 genesis GV80 should hit the showrooms in the summer of 2020. so what are your thoughts, is this SUV something that you’re excited about?
